Also by popular demand - Photos #1 - Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City)

As requested folks, I will start uploading as I can... slow process... we will start with Saigon/Ho Chi Minh, undoubtedly one of my favourite places in one of my favourite countries... enjoy

Better late than never... City sprawl greets us on arrival ('Downtown' CBD in distance far left)

My beloved Continental Hotel and the Opera House

Old Saigon hides in the shade while new glass towers head skyward

House of a thousand dishes... Nga Hang Ngon restaurant

The incredible Reunification Palace (funnily enough originally known as Independence Palace and residence of the South Vietnamese President) - straight out of Thunderbirds and preserved in the exact state it was in on the day of reuinification... both outside and interior (below).

All class

A small glimpse of Saigon traffic insanity from our favourite perch - the roof bar of the Rex Hotel (once wartime HQ of the CIA, and rival to the Continental for historical intrigue).

A pretty town from so many angles - view from the Trung Nguyen coffee house across town... popular hangout of locals, officials, mobsters, comrades, and a great place to avoid tourists.

Faded but still glorious... drinks in the central courtyard at the Continental
